Why JP SSH

General-purpose mobile terminals miss the agent workflow.

Moving a desktop terminal onto a phone does not solve long-form input, touch-driven TUIs or session survival across app switches.

01

Long instructions are awkward

IME composition and terminal input compete with each other. Editing a paragraph before sending should not be a workaround.

02

TUIs are not touch-native

Choosing one Claude Code option should not require repeated arrow-key taps on a tiny accessory row.

03

Sessions disappear in background

Looking up a document or locking the screen can leave a normal Android SSH process frozen or disconnected.

Built for the workflow

Optimized for giving instructions, not checking feature boxes.

Aa

Dedicated multiline composer

Compose, edit, paste or dictate a complete instruction, then send it to the terminal as one ordered payload.

Direct TUI touch

Detects xterm mouse reporting and translates taps, wheel gestures and drags for Claude Code and tmux.

Background sessions

A foreground service and visible notification keep a user-started SSH session available across app switches and screen lock.

#

Snippets and essential keys

Send recurring prompts in one tap, with Esc, Tab, Ctrl+C and arrow controls available without opening another keyboard.

$

One tap into tmux or herdr

Save a post-connect command per host and land directly in the session you actually use.

# Post-connect examples
herdr attach satellite-agent

tmux attach -t daily-long-short

# Tailscale MagicDNS works too
ssh gpu-server.tailnet.ts.net

Four steps

Keep your existing server setup.

JP SSH does not bundle an agent or VPN. It is a focused client for the SSH, tmux and Tailscale environment you already operate.

STEP 01

Reach the server

Use Tailscale, another VPN, LAN access or normal public SSH.

STEP 02

Save the host

Store the endpoint, username and authentication choice on the device.

STEP 03

Configure attach

Add the tmux or herdr command you want to run after login.

STEP 04

Direct the agent

Tap the host and work through touch, snippets or long-form input.

Local-first security

The basics an SSH client should get right.

There is no JP SSH cloud account or relay. Traffic goes directly to the SSH server you specify.

First-use fingerprint check

Shows the algorithm and SHA-256 fingerprint, and refuses a later host-key change.

No stored passwords

Passwords and private-key passphrases are kept in memory only for the connection attempt.

No private-key backup

Generated keys and known_hosts are excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer.

No ads or in-app telemetry

The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or telemetry SDK.

Simple pricing

A tool you buy, not another subscription.

JP SSH focuses on the personal remote-development workflow rather than cloud sync and team administration.

FAQ

Before you install.

Does it include Claude Code or Codex?

No. JP SSH connects to tools already running on a server you control.

Is Tailscale required?

No. Any SSH server reachable from the Android device can work, including LAN, VPN and public endpoints.

How do I enable touch in tmux?

Enable tmux mouse mode with set -g mouse on. Claude Code also needs its fullscreen TUI for direct mouse selection.

Are credentials sent to a JP SSH server?

No developer-operated server is involved. Authentication data is used only in the encrypted SSH connection to the server you chose.

Is there an iOS version?

Not currently. The app is designed around Android IME behavior and foreground-service lifecycle.

Do I need my own server?

Yes. JP SSH is a client and does not provide cloud compute or an SSH account.

Coming to Google Play

Step away from the desk without losing the agent workflow.

Closed testing is being prepared now. Testers with real Claude Code, Codex or tmux setups are welcome.
